A starting guard for the perennially successful women’s basketball team, Katie Frost Franzoni helped Southern Maine to a record of 118 wins and just 11 losses over four season (2002-2003 through 2005-2006).  During that time, Frost and the Huskies captured four consecutive Little East Conference regular season and championship titles advancing to the NCAA Division III National Championship each of those years.

During her four trips to the NCAAs, Frost and her team advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight each time, and competed in back-to-back Final Fours during the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 seasons, finishing at the National Runner-Up in 2006.  Captain of the Huskies’ 2005-2006 team, Frost helped the Huskies to a school record 32-2.  Frost was the team’s third leading scorer and led the team in assists during the Huskies’ 2006 Final Four run. She averaged 5.0 assists per game and had a 3.0 assist-to-turnover ratio.

A standout shooter and passer, Frost is second in career games played (125), fifth in three-point field goals made (180), three-point field goal percentage (.318), and sixth in assists (447).  Frost’s career-best 180 assists during the 2005-2006 season ranks eighth in single-season records, while her 67 threes in 2004-2005 ranks fifth.

A four-time William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete and member of the Huskies’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Frost was honored for her dedication with the 2006 Paula D. Hodgdon Leadership Award.  Frost earned her bachelor of science in sociology in 2006, and then went on to complete her Master’s of Education at USM in 2009.
