Southern Maine Athletics

Steve deBree of Portland, Class of 1980, is one of USM’s most honored athletes. Winner of numerous awards for his performance in basketball and soccer, deBree was drafted by Minnesota Kicks of North American Soccer League. He was named USM’s first presidential fellow, Outstanding Senior Man of 1980, and the first recipient of the Roland Wirths Memorial Award for contributions to the athletic program. The 1980 Maine Sports Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete is a sales representative for AAA Energy Services of Scarborough.
