Marcia Hamlyn Bechard, 1974- Marcia Hamlyn Bechard has won the most athletic awards in four years in school history. She participated in field hockey, lacrosse, volleyball and basketball for the University of Maine Portland-Gorham, leading the team in scoring in 1973. She was named Athlete of the Year her junior and senior years. After receiving her B.S. in elementary education from UMPG in 1974, Hamlyn Bechard later returned to USM to earn her M.S. in 1984. She is currently the principal at Hollis Elementary School, and resides in Kennebunk with her husband Frederick.
