Kevin A. Jenkins, 1980-Kevin Jenkins played a significant role in the Huskie’s two appearances in the NAIA National Tournament during his four-year basketball career at USM. Through his relentless efforts and hard work he was named All-District, All-Conference and All-Maine. “Kevin was someone who got the most out of his abilities,” says Karl Henrikson, a high school and college teammate of Jenkins. “He was able to combine his intelligence with his skills, which is a pretty uncommon trait.” A former Husky captain, Jenkins is still passing along his basketball skills as the varsity coach at Gorham High School. Known as a compassionate coach, he will rarely give up on a player and has consistently produced some of the state’s best Class B teams. Jenkins, a quality player on both ends of the court, still ranks in the top 10 in several career categories for the Huskies. He finished his career with 1196 points over 93 games and is among the best in both assists and steals.
