India Lowe, Field Hockey, Class of 2009
A two-sport standout earning All-Little East Conference in both field hockey and softball, India Lowe was a four-year member of the Huskies’ field hockey team (2006-2009) and a two-year member of the softball team (2007-2008).
As a member of the field hockey team, Lowe paced the Huskies’ offense with her outstanding stick work and speed earning NFHCA Regional All-American honors twice (2008, 2009), including first-team honors in her final season. Lowe was also a two-time All-Little East Conference selection earning second-team honors in 2008 and 2009. Serving as a team captain in 2009, Lowe was invited to participate NFHCA Senior All-Star Game, after establishing USM’s single-season record for assists (12). Lowe played in 85 games for the Huskies, finishing fourth in career goals (38), and second in career assists (24) for a total of 100 career points (third in career records).
As a two-year player for the softball team, Lowe earned second team all-conference honors as an outfielder in 2008 after hitting an outstanding .353 (30-for-85) with 14 stolen bases. During that same season, Lowe set a single-game record with four stolen bases against UMass Boston (April 15, 2008), and finished tied for ninth in single-season stolen bases (14), and 10th in single-season sacrifices (12).
A four-time William B. Wise Scholar Athlete, Lowe graduated from Southern Maine with a degree in Criminology. She presently works as a Residential Energy Technician with RISE Engineering.
