Southern Maine Athletics

Gertrude M. Prinn of Portland, class of 1923, was a key member of basketball teams that went undefeated in 1922 and 1923. She captained the 1923 squad that won the state title. She began her career as a classroom teacher and went on to become Director of Reading for the Portland Public Schools. The Portland native received numerous honors over the years, including the Deborah Morton Award for Community Achievement and the Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contributions to the state and University.
