A three-time first team All-Little East Conference midfielder for the Huskies' soccer team, Peter McHugh played in 77 career games for Southern Maine finishing with 27 goals, including five game-winning goals, and 14 assists for 68 career points.
 
One of the best midfielders in program history, McHugh is one of just two Husky men's soccer players to be named the Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Year, earning the accolade in 2010 – his final season. Serving as team captain for the 2009 and 2010 seasons, McHugh helped the Huskies to two appearances in the Little East Conference tournament, and the 2008 LEC Regular Season Championships.
 
Earning United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) All-New England East Region second team honors, McHugh was also selected to play in the 2010 New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) Senior All-Star game. McHugh is currently tied for seventh in career goals, tied for eighth in career assists, and tied for seventh in career points.
