Earning third team Academic All-America honors in 2017, Mary Caron was a standout shortstop for the Huskies' softball team from 2015-2017. Finishing in the top of several career statistics in just three seasons with Southern Maine, Caron hit .356 for her career, collecting 133 hits (25 doubles, seven triples, and five home runs) in 374 at-bats while driving in 61 runs. 
 
A standout defensively, Caron earned first team All-Little East Conference honors for the Huskies in 2017 after hitting .349 with 21 RBI. With an accomplished three-season career, Caron finished fifth in assists (246), 10th in slugging percentage (.500), tied for 16th in total bases (187), 21st in RBI (61), tied for 19th in doubles (25), and tied for 28th in batting average. Her 133 career hits are in the top 20 in program history. 
 
An outstanding student and leader, Caron earned All-Academic Team honors from the Little East Conference, was a William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete, and was the 2017 Little East Conference Woman of the Year.  One of the student-speakers at the 2017 Senior Honors Night Banquet, Caron was the co-recipient of the Paula D. Hodgdon Award.
