Five Huskies Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

GORHAM, Maine  – Five members of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' softball team have earned 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors. Earning the academic distinction are seniors Olivia Levasseur (Amesbury, Mass.), Mackenzie Renner (Alton, NH/Prospect Mountain) and Kristina Yebba (Danvers, Mass.) and sophomores Aislin Davis (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Mia Coots (Hartland, Maine/Nokomis).
 
To be eligible for Academic All-District recognition student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically with a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. They also must have competed in 90 percent or started in 66 percent of their institution's games. For softball pitchers, it is 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched. The 2025-26 Academic All-District Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Earning second team All-Little East Conference (LEC) honors at shortstop for the Huskies, Levasseur recently completed her degree in Sport Management. A key player and starter for Southern Maine throughout her career, Levasseur served as the Huskies' starting shortstop her final two seasons, putting together a standout season in 2026. . Hitting .330 (38-for-115), Levasseur had a career-best 24 RBI with five doubles and a triple.  Outstanding defensively, Levasseur fielded a career-best .983 with 70 assists and 48 putouts, helping turn a trio of double plays. Recording her 100th career hit in a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Salem State University, Levasseur completed her career hitting .274 with 115 hits in 419 at-bats, scoring 70 runs and 59 RBI.  Fielding .954 for her career, Levasseur had 200 putouts and 323 assists in 151 career games played.
 
Davis had a breakout year for the Huskies in her second season, and was also named to the All-LEC second team as her team's starting right fielder and lead-off hitter.  Davis led the Huskies' in batting average at .471 and on-base percentage at .495, collecting 41 hits in 87 at-bats with 22 runs scored. Recording 11 multi-hit games, Davis had five games with three hits, including going 3-for-4 in back-to-back wins over the University of New England. Defensively, Davis had 42 put outs and one assist.  She is working towards her degree in Computer Science.
 
The Huskies' starting catcher, Renner, now a two-time Academic All-District selection, completed her degree in Piano and Finance.  Playing catcher and third base during her time as a Husky, Renner hit a solid .283 in 2026 collecting 28 hits in 99 at bats, including nine doubles, one triple and a pair of home runs while driving in a career-best 25 RBI. Outstanding defensively, Renner threw out 13 base runners in 2026 and fielded a phenomenal .995 with 158 putouts and 25 assists.
 
Setting a career-high in nearly every statistical category in 2026, Yebba played both first base and second base for the Huskies in her final season. Hitting .313 as a senior while playing and starting in 35 games, Yebba collected 31 hits in 99 at bats, scoring 12 runs and driving in 18.  Defensively, Yebba fielded well at .966 with 164 putouts and 37 assists. She completed her degree in Exercise Science.
 
Completing an outstanding second season, Coots finished 2026 with a 13-6 record in the circle with three saves. Firing a team-high 118.1 innings, Coots had a career-best 2.43 earned run average, striking out 99 hitters and holding her opponents to a .225 batting average.  Setting a career-high in strikeouts with 12 twice during the season, the Huskies' hurler did so in wins over Salem State (April 8) and WestConn (May 2).  She finished the season with a 1.12 WHIP and had three wins via shutout. Coots is working toward a degree in Public Health.
 
Southern Maine concluded its 2026 season with a record of 23-12.
