Olivia Levasseur (Amesbury, Mass.) was 4-for-6 with four RBI and a runs scored over two games, while freshman
Emily Wheeler (Old Town, Maine) went 5-for-9 with three RBI and two runs scored to help the University of Southern Maine Huskies sweep the WestConn Wolves 8-1 and 10-7 in a Little East Conference softball doubleheader at the Western Athletic Complex.
Sophomore
Mia Coots (Hartland, Maine/Nokomis) earned the win in game one firing an outstanding seven innings and matching her career-high with 12 strikeouts. She allowed five hits and one earned without walking a batter. Coots also earned the save in game two entering in the fifth with a one-run lead. Junior
Camdyn Johnson earned the game-two win in relief, pitching 3.2 scoreless innings.

Ella Bezanson (Amesbury, Mass.) was 4-for-8 with five runs scored over two games, while sophomore
Aislin Davis (Tewksbury, Mass.) went 3-for-8 with three runs scored. Senior

How It Happened
Game One
- Coots matched her career-high with 12 strikeouts, and the Huskies put up runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings to earn an 8-1 win in game one. After giving up a two-out single and a hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the first, Coots retired the next 12 batters she faced to dominate the WestConn hitters. Coots had seven of her 12 strikeouts during that run, including striking out the side in the second.
- The Huskies got on the board in the fourth inning breaking open a scoreless game with two runs. Senior Mackenzie Renner (Alton, NH/Prospect Mountain), Bezanson and Yebba each singles to load the bases before the Wolves turned two to keep Southern Maine off the board with a play at home and at first base. Bezanson wound up scoring the first run of the game unearned on a WestConn fielding error before the Huskies made it 2-0 on a stolen base from Yebba.
- Sophomore Taylor Takatsu (Gardiner, Maine) and Levasseur each had RBI singles in the fifth as part of a five-run, four-hit inning for the Huskies. The Huskies' batted through the lineup in the inning and led 7-0 on Levasseur's RBI single to right.
- WestConn broke up the shutout in the bottom of the fifth. Analise Hubert connected on a two-out double and then scored on an RBI single from Madison Mandra to make it a 7-1 game, but Coots came back to end the inning inducing a grounder to second base.
- In the sixth, Coots picked up her ninth and 10th strikeouts of the game to work around a pair of one-out singles moving the game to the top of the seventh. Bezanson led off the inning for the Huskies with a double and moved up to third on ground out. With two outs, Levasseur earned her second RBI of the game with a single to bringing home Bezanson for an 8-1 lead.
- Coots closed the game for her 13th victory of the season on a 1-2-3 effort, including back-to-back strikeouts to match her career high.
Game Two
- Trailing 3-0 after the first as WestConn collected five hits including RBI singles from Lorelei Stancavage and Victoria Wiatrak to open the game, Southern Maine rallied to tie the score by the top of the fourth and went ahead for good in the fifth to earn the sweep.
- Junior Camdyn Johnson (West Bath, Maine/Morse) earned the win in relief in game two entering in the bottom of the first and getting the final two outs. Johnson went three and two-thirds for the win, and did not allow an earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out two.
- Southern Maine made it a one-run game in the second. Levasseur drove in the first run with an RBI single and Takatsu made it 3-2 stealing home. Takatsu reached drawing a two-out walk to keep the inning alive.
- Johnson had a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the second, and did the same in the third to keep it a 3-2 game. In the top of the fourth, Bezanson led off the inning with a triple and then scored on a single from Yebba. The Huskies threatened for more but a double-play ended the inning.
- Johnson worked around a two-out double in the bottom of the fourth and Southern Maine went ahead 4-3 on an RBI ground out from Renner. After sophomore Aislin Davis (Tewksbury, Mass) reached on an error, Wheeler single to move her up to second. A sacrifice bunt from senior Kendall Migliorini (Salem, NH) moved both runners up into scoring position before Renner hit a slow ground to third and Davis used her speed to score and grant Renner the RBI.
- Trailing 4-3, WestConn had two runners on to start the bottom of the fifth as Francesa Foster singled to start and Jaycee Filancia walked. Coots entered for Johnson, getting a sacrifice out and a line out to first for the first two outs but with both runners now out third and second. Coots was able to protect the lead and get the fly out to end the threat.
- Southern Maine blew the game open and led 9-3 after the sixth, scoring five runs on five hits. Sophomore Gwen Christie (Barnstead, NH) had an RBI single and Migliorini added an ground out single in the inning while Wheeler had a three-run triple to do a bulk of the damage.
- WestConn raced back into the game scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth on an three-run double from Stancavage to trail 9-6, but Southern Maine took a run back in the top of the seventh on another RBI from Levasseur to lead 10-7.
- Coots completed the save in the bottom of the seventh. Working around a lead off double from Alexis Resto, Coots got a strikeout and a flyout before allowing a run on an RBI single from Julia Valukis. Coots ended the game for the Huskies getting another strikeout for the 10-7 final.
