NEW LONDON, Conn. – Junior
Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) placed first in the javelin at the NCAA Division III New England Championships on Friday with a throw of 41.09m. She is the first Husky to win an individual DIII New England title since Adela Kalilwa won titles in the long jump and triple jump in 2019. Reitchel also competed in the pole vault and tied for 14th with a height of 3.10m.

The Huskies ended the first day of the competition in ninth place with 12 points thanks to Reitchel's win and a seventh-place finish by graduate student
Olivia Jalbert (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) in the javelin with a throw of 36.20m.

Janiah Young (Perkinsville, Vt./Windsor) placed 13th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.44 seconds while freshman
Mya Austin (Sumner, Maine/Buckfield) placed 21st with a time of 12.80 seconds.

Saya Breiting-Brown (Portland, Maine/Deering) ran a personal-best time in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.75 seconds to place 17th. Senior
Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) placed 20th in the hammer with a mark of 39.96m.
