Reitchel Wins Javelin at UNH Jim Boulanger Invitational to Jump to Top of Division III Leaderboard

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) placed first in the javelin on Saturday at the University of New Hampshire Jim Boulanger Invitational with a mark of 44.24m. Her distance is the best in NCAA Division III this season and the fourth best throw in program history. The Huskies placed fourth in the team standings with 46 points. Reitchel currently holds the second best throw in program history at 45.49, a mark that she set as a freshman in 2023.
 
In addition to Reitchel's win in the javelin, the Huskies had strong performances from senior throwers Zoe Barnes (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) and Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy. The pair placed second and third in the shot put at 12.61m and 12.14m, respectively. Each thrower also placed in the top five in the discus with Barnes finishing second at 42.16m and Boudreau placing fourth with a throw of 35.55m. Boudreau also finished sixth in the hammer toss with a mark of 40.85m. Her mark moves her into 10th in program history and is a personal best.
 
Junior Alexis Karantza (Westbrook, Maine) led the Huskies on the track as the runner up in the 400 meters with an outdoor personal best time of 1:00.99. Her time ranks 15th in the East region in Division III.
 
 
Track Event Highlights:
  • Freshman Adria Otash (Berwick, Maine/Noble) finished fourth in 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.10 seconds.
  • Freshman Mya Austin (Sumner, Maine/Buckfield) finished fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.33 seconds.
  • Freshman Saya Breiting-Brown (Portland, Maine/Deering) placed 10th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.69 seconds.
  • Junior AnnMarie Limberger (Vassalboro, Maine/Waterville) placed 10th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:33.40.
  • The Huskies' 4x400 relay team of junior Janiah Young (Perkinsville, Vt./Windsor), freshman Meara McVearry (Belfast, Maine/Belfast Regional), Breiting-Brown and Karantza placed third with a time of 4:15.84.
 
Field Event Highlights:
  • Junior Autumn Gerry (Winthrop, Maine) cleared 1.50m in the high jump to place fifth. Sophomore Sam Fenley (Harlowton, Mont.) placed seventh with a height of 1.45m.
  • Freshman Amara Calhum-Flowers (Bethel, Vt./White River Valley) placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.32m.
  • Graduate student Olivia Jalbert (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 31.11m.
  • Junior Lilly Carson (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) set a personal best in the hammer at 36.96m to place eighth.
  • Junior Lizzie Asman (Marlborough, Mass./ Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter) placed ninth in the hammer (32.50m) and 10th in the discus (27.89m).
 
Up Next:
The Huskies have two meets on the schedule for next weekend. Some members on the team will compete at the two-day Monks Invitational at Saint Joseph's College of Maine, while others will travel to Southern Maine Hampshire University Ed Daniels Invitational on Saturday, April 12.
