WATERVILLE, Maine – Junior
Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) won the javelin with a throw of 43.19m on Friday at the Maine State Pine Tree Classic. Her mark is the seventh best in University of Southern Maine program history. The Huskies also had athletes compete in the hammer throw and high jump on the first day of the meet and ended the day first in the team standings with 34 points.

Zoe Barnes (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) placed second in the hammer with a throw of 42.37m. Her distance is a new personal best and she now ranks fifth in program history. Junior
Lilly Carson (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) placed fourth with a throw of 41.32m to jump up to ninth in program history. Sophomore
Karessa Anderson (Eddington, Maine/Brewer) placed ninth with a throw of 37.47m and junior
Lizzie Asman (Marlborough, Mass./ Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter) finished 11th with a throw of 37.03m.

Olivia Jalbert (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) placed fifth in the javelin with a mark of 32.97m. Freshman
Kate LeBlanc (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) and senior
Abbie Norris (Dryden, Ontario) also competed in the event. LeBlanc placed eighth with a mark of 29.38m. Norris placed 16th with a mark of 22.18m.

Janiah Young (Perkinsville, Vt./Windsor) competed in the high jump for the first time in her collegiate career and placed fifth with a mark of 1.46m. Junior
Autumn Gerry (Winthrop, Maine) also cleared 1.46m and placed seventh. Sophomore
Sam Fenley (Harlowton, Mont.) placed 11th with a mark of 1.36m.
