Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
CLERMONT, Fla.  – Facing tough competition in its first two days of its annual spring training trip to Clermont, Fla, the University of Southern Maine Huskies softball team fell to the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets 9-1 (5 innings) and the seventh-ranked DePauw University Tigers 6-0.

The Yellowjackets improved to 5-8 with win over the Huskies, while DePauw ran its record to a perfect 9-0.  The Huskies are winless through four games and stand at 0-4.

In the first game, the Yellowjackets used a four-hit six-run second inning to distance themselves from the Huskies.  Senior Taylor VanDamme (Superior, Wis.) had a two-run triple in the inning, while freshman Elle Niemala (Cokato, Minn./Dassel-Cokato) and junior Lindsay Garay (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern) each had RBI doubles.

Freshman C Emily Trembley (Old Town, Maine) drove in the Huskies' lone run with an RBI single up the middle in the top of the fifth inning.  Sophomore Kayla Kennedy (Windham, Maine) led off the inning with single. Sophomore Natalie Harkins (Windham, Maine) entered the game to run for Kennedy and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt before wheeling around to score on Trembley's single.

Junior Alexandra Perdomo (Portland, Maine) took the loss for the Huskies firing 1.2 innings. Junior Amanda Le Bard (Superior, Wis.) earned the win for the Yellowjackets, limiting USM to five hits and just one run over five innings.

In the second game, seventh-ranked DePauw used an outstanding effort from junior Emily Bichler (Belgium, Wis./Port Washington).  Bichler held USM to four-hits and struck out 10 batters en route to the win.

Senior Jen Kosinski (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) and junior Jamie Story (New Palestine, Ind.) each had a pair of RBI for the Tigers. Kosinski also collected a solo home run as the Tigers had five multiple base hits.
