With the wins, the Beacons improve to 21-11 on the year and 5-5 in the LEC while the Huskies fall to 4-32 and 2-10.

The Huskies didn't waste any time to get on the board in game one, scoring a pair in the first to take the early 2-0 lead. Sophomore third baseman Katie Davis (Woburn, Mass.) knocked an RBI single to centerfield to drive in sophomore left fielder Stefanie Stockwell (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) to make it 1-0 and freshman centerfielder Annie Mitchell (Gorham, Maine) would later add a sacrifice fly, plating sophomore shortstop Anna Allard (Parsonsfield, Maine/Sacopee Valley). The Beacons would immediately respond in the bottom half of the opening inning, scoring three runs to take the 3-2 lead in which they would not relinquish for the remainder of the contest. Junior first baseman Lisa Polsonetti (Revere, Mass.) belted a two-RBI double to left to even the score and then came around to score on an RBI single by freshman right fielder Natalia Bouyea (East Longmeadow, Mass.).

UMass Boston would blow the game open in the third with six more runs to go ahead, 9-3. Sophomore shortstop Taryn Asta (Marshfield, Mass.) got the scoring started with a two-RBI single to left field. Junior left fielder Jackie Goodwin (Melrose, Mass.) would make it 6-3 with an RBI infield single and then sophomore catcher Sue Killilea (Abington, Mass.) delivered the big blow with an two-RBI double down the right field line. She'd come around to score the ninth UMass Boston run on an RBI single by senior centerfielder Christina Polsonetti (Revere, MA) to cap the innings scoring.

In the sixth, senior third baseman Maria Nasta (Andover, Mass.) belted a triple to the left-centerfield fence and score on a passed ball to make it 10-2 and end the game due to the eight-run rule.

Senior southpaw Emily Wolf (Salem, NH) notched the win tossing 6.0 innings while allowing just the two runs on three hits to improve to 12-4 on the year. Senior pitcher Sarah Deroche (Portland, Maine/Deering) suffered the loss for Southern Maine.

In game two, UMass Boston jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third plating a pair of unearned runs. Southern Maine would get one back right away in the top of the fourth, making it 3-1 on an RBI double by junior first baseman Kayla Ferrara (South Portland, Maine/South Portland) but the Beacons responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to put the game away. Nasta delivered the knockout punch with her second homerun of the year, a two-run shot over the left-centerfield fence to give UMass Boston the 7-1 cushion.

The Huskies got a run back in the top of the sixth on a sacrifice fly by senior catcher Melissa Caiazzo (Portland, Maine/Deering) before the Beacons matched it, plating a run in the bottom of the inning to make it 8-2. C. Polsonetti delivered a triple and came around to score on an RBI single by Nasta for the final run of the contest.

Junior pitcher Katie Corey (Weymouth, Mass.) posted the victory, tossing 7.0 innings while allowing the two runs on nine hits while recording six strikeouts. Freshman Samantha Morse (South China, Maine/Erskine Academy) threw well in the losing effort, striking out eight over 6.0 innings of work for Southern Maine.

The Beacons will be back in action in Saturday, April 30 when they host Rhode Island College in a Little East Conference doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m. while the Huskies returns to the diamond the same day, hosting UMass Dartmouth in a twin bill beginning at 1:00 p.m.
