Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

PLYMOUTH, N.H.   –  Freshman P Amber White (Middleboro, Mass.) earned a pair of wins in the circle to lead the Plymouth State University Panthers to a sweep of the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a pair of Little East Conference softball games Tuesday evening at D & M Park in Plymouth, N.H.  The Panthers defeated Huskies 9-6 in the opener and 4-1 in the nightcap for the sweep.

Winning their fourth straight, the Panthers improve to 15-12 overall and 3- 6 in the conference.  The Huskies fall to 3-27 and 1-7 in the Little East.       Trailing 6-3 heading into the top of the sixth the Huskies rallied for three runs on the strength of a two-out, three-run home run from sophomore 2B Erin Swarbrick (Windham, N.H./Central Catholic) to tie the game up at 6-6.

Limited to just three hits prior to the inning by PSU starter freshman Nora Galvin (Windham, N.H./Salem), the Huskies were able to knot the game up with a single, a walk and Swarbrick's homerun.  After giving up the homerun, Galvin was lifted in favor of White who picked up the final out of the inning on a strikeout.

The Panthers bounced back in the bottom of the sixth plating three runs of their own. After a leadoff single from sophomore OF Jenn Bove (Medford, Mass.), junior 2B Heather Blase (Milford, N.H./Salem) smacked a two-run home run to give her team an 8-6 advantage.  Freshman OF Jackie Digman (Burlington, Mass.) added an insurance run with a solo home run.

White retired the side in order in the top of the seventh to earn the win.  USM senior P Sarah Deroche (Portland, Maine/Deering) allowed five earned runs in the loss, giving up 10 hits and three walks over six innings pitched.

In the second game, White scattered seven hits and a walk over seven innings to earn the win.  White struck out five USM batters and did not give up an extra base hit. USM freshman P Samantha Morse (South China, Maine/Erksine Academy) allowed three earned runs on seven hits and three walks in the loss.

White was aided by her battery-mates two RBI as freshman C Taylor Mancini (Gansevoort, N.Y./South Glens Falls) was 2-for-2 at the plate with a walk.

Southern Maine hosts Bates College on Wednesday (3:30 p.m.).  Plymouth State hosts UMass Boston on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) in a LEC doubleheader.
