Amherst, Mass.  – The University of Southern Maine women's track & field team tied for 19th on Saturday at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships at UMass Amherst with a total of eight points. Senior
Zoe Barnes (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) accounted for all eight points by placing second in the discus with a throw of 43.98m, the 10th best throw in program history.

Alexis Karantza (Westbrook, Maine) also competed for the Huskies and placed 15th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.47. Junior
Lucy Depolito (North Andover, Mass.) and sophomore
Julia Szewc (Hermon, Maine) also ran for the Huskies in the 10,000 meters. Depolito placed 18th with a time of 41:22.03 followed by Szewc in 20th at 42:33.40.

Graduate student
Olivia Jalbert (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) placed 15th in the javelin with a throw of 34.11m. She also competed on Friday at the Williams College Farley Inter-Regional Extravaganza where she placed seventh with a throw of 32.27m.

The Huskies will be sending select athletes back to UMass next week for the UMass Last Chance Meet on Thursday, May 15.
