GORHAM, Maine – Senior
Michael D'Amico (Belgrade Lakes, Maine/Messalonskee) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's indoor track & field team has been named the Little East Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the first week of the season. D'Amico won the heptathlon at Colby College's Elm City Classic over the weekend with a personal-best score of 4701 points, the fifth-best score in program history. This is the third Field Athlete of the Week award of his indoor career. He earned the honor once in each of the 2024-25 and 2023-24 seasons for standout performances in the heptathlon as well
D'Amico set personal-best in the 1000m (2:55.53), pole vault (4.45m), long jump (6.20m), and 60m dash (7.49 seconds). He placed first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.86 seconds and ranked in the top three in the pole vault, high jump and long jump. His score ranks seventh in NCAA Division III so far this season and is the best in the East region.
The next meet for Southern Maine will be the USM Alumni Open on Saturday, December 13 in the Costello Sports Complex.
