GORHAM, Maine – Freshman
Kody McCranie (Bow, N.H.), senior
Christian Burke (York, Maine) and sophomore
Trevor Amos (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) each won events on Saturday as the University of Southern Maine men's indoor track & field team returned to action with the USM Open II.
McCranie placed first in the 200 meters with a time of 22.91 seconds. Burke won the long jump with a personal-best mark of 6.41m. Amos (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) won the shot put with a mark of 13.10m and now ranks ninth in program history.
Track Event Highlights:
- Sophomore Marcus Tillery (Windham, Maine) was the top collegiate finisher in the 55-meter dash with a personal-best time of 6.58 seconds in the finals to place second overall. He now ranks fifth in program history in the event. His converted 60m time ranks seventh in the NCAA DIII East region.
- Senior Maddox Cahill (Sunapee, N.H.) placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 50.08 seconds and was the top collegiate runner in the event. His converted time is the best in the region.
- Senior Michael Cyr (Caribou, Maine) ran a time of 9:11.68 to place second in the 3000 meters and finish as the top collegiate performer.
- The Huskies sprint medley relay team of Tillery, Cahill, McCranie and junior Cyrus Evans (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) placed second with a time of 3:41.86.
- Sophomore Preston Gerry (Gray, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) and freshman Gavin Gerry (Gray, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) placed third and fourth in the 800 meters with times of 2:07.75 and 2:08.79.
- Freshman Conner Smith (Durham, Maine) led a quartet of Huskies that placed third through sixth in the mile. Smith led the way with a time of 4:35.52 followed by junior Aidan Pecoraro (Westbrook, Maine) at 4:37.60, freshman Harry Dunne (Hollis Center, Maine/Bonny Eagle) at 4:39.41 and freshman Camden Cyr (Kittery, Maine/Traip Academy) with a time of 4:54.88.
- Senior Michael D'Amico (Belgrade Lakes, Maine/Messalonskee) placed fourth in the finals in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.22 seconds. He earned his spot in the finals by setting a personal-best in the prelims with a time of 8.09 seconds and now ranks seventh in program history.
- Freshman Ethan Cadorette (Biddeford, Maine) placed fifth in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:49.45.
- Senior Pashalis Pashalidis (Palo Alto, Cali.) placed fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 53.33 seconds and had the best time in his heat.
- Sophomore Reegan Buck (Portland, Maine), freshman Jordan Anderson (Jefferson, Maine/Lincoln Academy) and freshman Rhylen Avery (Sanford, Maine) also reached the finals of the 55-meter dash and placed sixth through eighth with times of 6.82, 6.84 and 6.86 seconds. Avery had a time of 6.79 in the prelims.
- Burke placed seventh in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.60 seconds in the finals. He ran a personal-best time of 8.24 seconds in the prelims.
- Senior DeAnthony Evans (Westbrook, Maine) placed eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.18 seconds.
Field Event Highlights:
- Freshman Dylan Courtney (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy) cleared 4.45m in the pole vault to set a new personal-best and place second. His mark ranked first among collegiate finishers.
- Senior Jon Dalessandro (Westbrook, Maine) placed third in the pole at 4.05m while freshman Camden Brown (Veazie, Maine/Orono) also cleared that height and placed fourth.
- Amos placed third in the weight throw with a mark of 14.36m.
- Burke placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 11.06m
- D'Amico placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.13m.
- Sophomore Tim Bowler (Danvers, Mass.) placed fifth in the weight throw (14.21m) and seventh in the shot put (10.59m).

The Huskies will send athletes to the Bates Multi / Invitational next Friday and Saturday.
