Maddox Cahill, Michael D’Amico and Cyrus Evans Named 2025-26 Southern Maine Men’s Track & Field Captains

GORHAM, Maine – Senior Maddox Cahill (Sunapee, N.H), Michael D'Amico (Belgrade Lakes, Maine/Messalonskee) and junior Cyrus Evans (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) have been named captain for the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's track & field team for the 2025-26 season.
 
Cahill earned three All-Little East Conference at last year's indoor conference championship with a first-place finish as part of the 4x400 relay team, a second-place finish in the 400 meters and a third-place finish with the 4x200 team. He previously won conference titles in 2024 in the 400 meters and as part of the 4x200 relay team. His outdoor accolades from the 2025 season include a LEC title and U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors in the 400-meter hurdles. A Studio Art major, Cahill earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors in 2024-25 and is a William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete.
 
D'Amico, a Cybersecurity major, won the first LEC title of his career by placing first in the pole vault at the LEC Indoor Championships with a mark of 4.30m. He also earned Second Team All-LEC honors in the outdoor pole vault and Third Team honors in the 60-meter hurdles. D'Amico also earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in the heptathlon and decathlon in 2024-25 and ranks in the top 10 in program history in each event. Academically, he is a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree and a two-time William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete.
 
Evans, who is also a captain for the Huskies' cross country team, won the LEC title in the 600m at the 2025 LEC Indoor Championships and placed second at the 2024 event. He also earned Third Team honors with the 4x800 relay team at the 2024 indoor championships. Evans is majoring in Mechanical Engineering and is a William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete.
 
The Huskies start the indoor season this weekend with athletes competing at the Elm City Classic at Colby College and the TRACK at New Balance Early Bird Invitational in Boston. The Huskies have won the last two LEC Indoor Championships and will be looking for their third consecutive title this season.
