GORHAM, Maine – Freshman Charlotte Hughes (Mississauga, Ontario) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's ice hockey team was named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon to become the first Husky to earn a conference weekly award in the program's LEC era.
 
Hughes scored the first goal for the Huskies in a 2-1 overtime win on Friday evening against Vermont State University Castleton. Her two goals this season lead the team. She also ranks second on the team in plus/minus with a +2 rating.
 
Hughes and the Huskies will face Norwich University on the road on Friday evening at 4:00 pm before returning to Maine to host Plymouth State University on Saturday at 4:00 pm in the USM Ice Arena.
