Hume, Voter Earn Academic All-District Honors

GORHAM, Maine – Seniors Kevin Voter (Sanford, Maine) and Ronan Hume (Marshfield, Mass.) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's soccer team have each earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.

Members of the Huskies' formidable defense, both Voter and Hume are earning the honor after distinguishing themselves athletically and academically as student-athletes at the University of Southern Maine.  To be eligible for the accolade, student-athletes must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games, must be at least a sophomore academically and have been at their current institution for one full academic year.  Graduate students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher as both an undergrad and graduate student-athlete.

A three-time William B. Wise Scholar Athlete and two-time Little East Conference Fall All-Academic Team selection, Hume is completing his degree in Nursing.  A tenacious and skilled defender, Hume played and started in 16 games for the Huskies' this season, helping USM to 10 shutouts and a stingy 0.72 goals against average.  Playing in 49 career games, Hume has been a regular in the Huskies' starting lineup since the 2021 season, starting 38 games.  He has one assist in his career, helping Southern Maine to a 2-1 win over Thomas College (September 21, 2021).

Co-captain of the 2022 squad, Voter is a three-time William B. Wise Scholar Athlete, and a two-time Little East Conference (2020, 2021) All-Academic Team selection.  Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Voter plays center back leading the Huskies' defense. Starting in 14 of 16 games during the 2022 season, Voter helped USM collect 10 shutouts and hold its opponents to less than one goals (0.72) per game.  Through three seasons, Voter has played in 51 games with 47 starts, and is 90 minutes shy of 4000 career minutes.  Recording an assist in the 2021 season, Voter assisted on the game-winning overtime goal in the Huskies' 2-1 triumph over University of New England.

As Academic All-District student-athlete honorees, both Voter and Hume are eligible for selection to the Academic All-America program. Voting for the Academic All-America program runs through November 22.  Members of College Sports Communicators are eligible to vote.
