Emma O'Brien (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest) and senior
Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's track & field team have each earned weekly awards from the Little East Conference. Guimont was chosen as the LEC Track Rookie of the Week, O'Brien was named the LEC Field Rookie of the Week and Reitchel once again earned the LEC Field Athlete of the Week honor.
Guimont placed sixth in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the University of New Hampshire Jim Boulanger Invitational on Saturday with a time of 12:33.29 that ranks 11th in the DIII Northeast region. She now ranks sixth on the program leaderboard. Guimont also ran on a 4x400 relay team that placed fourth with a time of 4:49.54.
O'Brien was the runner up in the pole vault at Saturday's meet with a mark of 3.20m to match her season best. She currently ranks 10th in the region.
Reitchel won the javelin title on Saturday with a throw of 40.02m. Her mark ranks third in the region and 18th nationally.
The Huskies have two meets scheduled for this weekend. The first is the Silfen Elite Distance Carnival on Friday, April 10 at Connecticut College. The second is the Southern New Hampshire University Ed Daniels Invitational on Saturday, April 11.
