GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine men's track & field team will be competing at the Little East Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday at Eastern Connecticut State University. The Huskies placed second at the 2025 meet and will be looking to claim their 11th LEC outdoor title. The meet is scheduled to start at 10:00 am at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex.
The Huskies return one conference champion from last season in senior
Maddox Cahill (Sunapee, N.H.), who placed first in the 400-meter hurdles last year. His season-best time of 53.83 seconds ranks second in the conference this season and 30th nationally.
Freshman
Ryker Paradis (Lewiston, Maine), the four-time LEC Field Rookie of the Week and two-time LEC Field Athlete of the Week, will be looking to add multiple conference titles to his already impressive rookie season. Paradis enters the meet at the top of the conference performance list in the shot put with a mark of 17.25m that ranks 11th nationally. He also ranks second in the conference and 22nd nationally in the discus with a mark of 50.00m.
Paradis is one of three Huskies with the top mark in the conference this season. Fellow freshman
Dylan Courtney (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy) has the best pole vault mark with a height of 4.55m, and senior
Treshaun Brown (Kittery, Maine) holds the top triple jump mark at 13.58m. In addition to Courtney, seniors
Christian Burke (York, Maine),
Michael D'Amico (Belgrade Lakes, Maine/Messalonskee) and
Jon Dalessandro (Westbrook, Maine) have been consistent placers in the pole vault at past conference championship meet and will be looking continue that trend.
On the track,
Michael Cyr (Caribou, Maine) ranks third in the conference in the 10000 meters with a time of 32:45.60. Additional Huskies to watch include D'Amico in the 110-meter hurdles, freshman
Conner Smith (Durham, Maine/Freeport) in the 1500 meters, and the USM 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
In addition to Paradis, sophomore
Trevor Amos (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) and freshman
Tyler Bryant (South Portland, Maine) are throwers who have the chance to score points for the Huskies. Bryant ranks fifth in the javelin with a mark of 50.40m. Amos ranks eighth in the discus with a mark of 40.90m and 10th in the shot put with a mark of 13.26m.
Jump event athletes to watch for Southern Maine include Burke in the long jump and high jump, freshman
Jaden Ruffin (Hollis, Maine/Bonny Eagle) and freshman
Camden Brown (Veazie, Maine/Orono) in the pole vault.
