GORHAM, Maine – Fifth-year Zoe Barnes (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) of the University of Southern Maine women's track & field team has been named the Little East Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive indoor season. The Southern Maine coaching staff was also honored as the LEC Coaching Staff of the Year after the Huskies won their sixth consecutive, and 25th overall, conference indoor title. The conference announced its full slate of major awards and all-conference teams on Thursday afternoon.
 
All-Little East Conference honors were awarded to the top three finishers and relay team in each event at the conference championship meet. The top rookie performer in each event was also honored with a spot on the All-Rookie Team.
 
Barnes won the shot put and weight throw at Saturday's conference championship to earn First Team All-LEC honors in each event. Her shot put mark of 14.32m set new personal, program and conference records and moved her into fourth on the national leaderboard.
 
Three Huskies, junior Gwen Catalano (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle), freshman Emma O'Brien (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest) and senior Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) each earned second team all-conference honors. Catalano finished second in the 5000m with a personal-best time of 18:23.50. O'Brien cleared a personal-best height of 3.30m in the pole vault. Boudreau placed second in the shot put with a throw of 12.88m
 
The 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams also were named second team all-conference. The 4x400 group consisted of senior Janiah Young (Perkinsville, Vt./Windsor), freshman (Addy Burkhardt (Lisbon Falls, Maine), Sophomore Mya Austin (Sumner, Maine/Buckfield) and senior Alexis Karantza (Westbrook, Maine) and the 4x800 team was made up of sophomore Meghan Przybilla (St. Anthony, Minn./St. Anthony Village), senior AnnMarie Limberger (Vassalboro, Maine/Waterville), senior Whitney Davenport (Westbrook, Maine) and Anabel Melanson (West Warren, Mass./Quaboag)
 
Young also picked up third team honors in both the 60-meter dash (7.92 seconds) and the 200 meters (26.06 seconds). Catalano, Karantza and senior Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) earned third team nods as well. Catalano placed third in the 3000m, Karantza finished third in the 400m and Reitchel placed third in the pole vault.
 
O'Brien and freshman Addy Thibodeau (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) were named to the All-Rookie Team. Thibodeau placed sixth in the 3000 meters with a personal-best time of 11:04.57.
