GORHAM, Maine – Fifth-year senior
Zoe Barnes (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's track & field team has qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in the shot put. The event will take place on March 13-14 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala. Barnes will compete in the shot put on Saturday, March 14 at 3:00 pm.
Barnes ranks fourth in NCAA Division III this season with a program-record mark of 14.32m that came at the Little East Conference Championships. She has earned numerous accolades this season including the LEC Field Athlete of the Year award and the Lynn Ruddy Women's Field MVP at Maine State Meet in addition to winning conference, state and DIII New England titles in the shot put. A two-time national qualifier in the discus, this is Barnes first time qualifying for the indoor championships.
For each woman's individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams were accepted into the competition.
