NEW LONDON, Conn.  -  Freshman Logan Martins (Johnston, RI/Johnston Senior) claimed four wins, including three extra-point wins, to earn a sixth place finish at 133 lbs at the 2026 New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Futures Tournament hosted by the United States Coast Guard Academy at the Dr. Hallie Gregory Field House Sunday afternoon.
 
The Huskies' 13 wrestlers dispersed among 10 weight classes combined for 31 points to place 12^th out of 16 competing teams.
 
Martins started his day strong with a 1:10 win by fall over Wesleyan's Merlin Dilone, and then picked up a dominant 17-0 (4:40) win by technical fall against WPI's Joe Puri. Dropping a narrow 9-6 decision in his third match of the day, Martins earned a major, 13-0 over Wesleyan's Dominic LaConte and then battled out a 4-0 decision against Coast Guard's Jason Guglietta to earn a spot on the podium.  In the fifth place match, Martins went head-to-head with Coast Guard's Jake Bennett. Rallying from a 4-1 deficit, Martin and Bennett were tied at the end of the third period 5-5, but Bennett's riding time put him over the top for a 6-5 decision.
 
Freshman Josiah Miller (Troy, Maine/Mt. View) had a strong day at 149 lbs. Bouncing back from an opening round loss, Miller won three consecutive matches.  Earning back-to-back major decision wins, Miller picked up a win by fall over Jeremy Kwon of Wesleyan in 2:29.  Miller narrowly missed out on a shot a podium spot falling 2-1 by decision.
 
 
Southern Maine returns to action on Saturday, February 28 (10:00 am) at the 2026 NCAA Division III Regional (Region 1) Championship hosted by the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.
