GORHAM, Maine – Getting it done on in the classroom and on the mat, thirteen members of the 2025-2026 University of Southern Maine Huskies' wrestling team were named to the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) All-Academic Team. The 13 Husky scholars represent 12 distinct University majors.
Among the 13 NEWA All-Academic Team selections for the Huskies are three-time NCAA Division III All-American and first team All-NEWA selection senior
Jake Craig (Norridgewock, Maine/Skowhegan), and All-Region wrestler and NEWA Honorable Mention selection sophomore
Shane Moore (Kennebunk, Maine/Division Avenue (NY)).
Finishing his career with 119 wins (fifth in program history), Craig is a four-time NEWA All-Academic selection along with teammates and seniors
Jalen Charles (Port Jervis, NY/Middletown),
Vinny Keeler (Rutherford, NJ), and
Colin Sevigney (Wells, Maine). Craig will earn his degree in Cyber Security, while Charles is a Secondary Education major and Sevigney is completing his degree in Elementary Education. Keeler is a Marketing major.
Senior
Troy Moscatelli (Brookline, NH/Hollis Brookline) is a three-time All-Academic recipient majoring in Cyber Security, while sophomores Moore and
Cesar Calderin (Hollywood, Fla./South Plantation) are both two-time honorees. Moore is pursuing his degree in Sport Management, while Calderin is studying Biology.
Five first-year wrestlers also earned the academic distinction for the first time, including freshman
Arnaldo Amado (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little), Mechanical Engineering, James Allen Chaplick (Sanford, Maine), Nursing,
Ashton Darling (Clinton, Maine/Lawrence), Exercise Science,
Logan Martins (Johnston, RI), Occupational Therapy, and
Peter Simone (Methuen, Mass.), History, and junior
Josiah Matias (Auburn, Maine/Portland), Business.
