CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Senior
Jake Craig (Norridgewock, Maine/Skowhegan) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' wrestling team concluded his outstanding career as a Husky as a three-time All-American, placing fourth nationally at the 2026 NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championship Saturday afternoon at the Alliant Energy Power House in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Making his fourth appearance in the NCAA Division III National Championship, Craig earned the title of All-American for the third time in his remarkable career, and become the program's first ever three-time All-American. An All-American in 2023, 2025, and now 2026, Craig is is one of just three Husky wrestlers to earn the distinction of NCAA All-American more than once in their career joining current Southern Maine head coach
Mike Morin '10, who earned the honor in 2009 and 2010 during his time as a Husky student-athlete, and recent graduate
Colby Frost '25 (2024, 2025). Including Morin, Frost and Craig, the Huskies boast eight all-time individual All-Americans. Husky standout Pete Del Gallo earned NCAA All-American honors in 2019 (third place) and was awarded NWCA All-American honors in 2020 after the tourney was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Finishing his senior season with a tremendous record of 35-4, Craig's has 119 career wins to his credit (119-26). Craig's 119 wins puts him fifth in all-time wins for Huskies' wrestling.
Putting on a clinical performance on day one of the tourney, Craig earned a 4-2 win over Lucas Torre of New Jersey City College, scoring all four points in the third period. Craig advanced to the national semifinals and secured his All-America honors facing a familiar opponent in Jacob Blair of Arcadia. Previously defeating Blair 8-1 in January, Craig turned in a dominant 12-1 major decision performance for the win, including a seven-point third period.
On day two of the tourney, Craig took a loss in the semifinal before battling back with a remarkable 7-4 come-from-behind sudden victory decision to secure a top four spot on the podium. Facing Case Western Reserve's Art Martinez, Craig trailed 3-1 after the second period. In the third, Martinez took a 4-1 lead before Craig scored a takedown as time expired to tie the match up at 4-4 and sending it into overtime.
