Huskies Rumble to 22-19 Win Over Norwich on Senior Day


 
GORHAM, Maine -  Honored prior to the start of the match, seniors Jake Craig (Norridgewock, Maine/Skowhegan) and Troy Moscatelli (Brookline, NH/Hollis Brookline) each had critical wins to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 22-19 win over the Norwich University Cadets in a wrestling match Saturday afternoon at Hill Gym.
 
Down 6-0 to the Cadets after a win by fall for Norwich at the 125-pound bout, Craig earned five points for the Huskies with a dominant 15-0 technical fall win over Carver Moyer to earn his 28th win of the season (28-2) and start a string of four consecutive wins for the Huskies. 
 
Junior Kyle Moore (Kennebunk, Maine/Division Avenue) gave Southern Maine the lead earning win by technical fall of his own, 16-1 (3:32).  Moore controlled the match from the start scoring 13 points in the first period en route to the win and a 10-6 Husky lead.  Freshman Josiah Miller (Troy, Maine/Mt. View) battled his way to an 11-4 win by decision over Billy Burke at 149 lbs before sophomore Shane Moore (Kennebunk, Maine/Division Avenue) gave the Huskies a solid 19-6 lead with a 3:22 win by fall over Reese Bunny at 157 lbs.
 
Norwich answered with wins by decision at 165 and 174 pounds stay within striking distance of Southern Maine 19-11, but Moscatelli came through with a hard-won 10-5 win by decision against Joseph Menkello. Moscatelli wrestled up a pair of weight classes in the win at 184 lbs.  Norwich claimed the final two classes for the 22-19 final.  
 
Notes:
With today's win, Craig is 112-24 in his career and is currently sixth in all-time wins as a Husky. He is one of eight Southern Maine wrestlers to earn 100 wins in their career: 1.
