GORHAM, Maine – Senior captain
Michael Cyr (Caribou, Maine) and the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's cross country team have earned All-Academic honors from U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2025 season. Cyr was named an All-Academic Athlete, while the team earned its eighth consecutive All-Academic Team designation with a team GPA of 3.33
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
Cyr placed 50th at the NCAA Division III East Regional Championships with a time 26:08.4 in the 8k. The cut off for All-Academic placement for the region was 54th. His performance at the regional meet capped off a strong senior season that also saw him set a personal-best 8k time of 25:59.7 to place sixth at the Little East Conference Championships and earn First Team All-LEC honors. Cyr is majoring in Health Sciences.
The Huskies finished third at the 2025 Little East Conference Championship and finished 14th at the NCAA DIII East Regional Championship. Cyr was one of three Huskies to earn All-LEC honors at the conference championship meet. He was joined by the freshman duo of
Harry Dunne (Hollis Center, Maine/Bonny Eagle) and
Evan Schneider (Old Orchard Beach, Maine). Dunne placed ninth with a personal-best time of 26:07.4 to claim the LEC Rookie of the Year award and Second Team All-LEC honors. Schneider also ran a personal-best time at 26:24.1 to place 14th and earn Second Team All-LEC honors.
