GORHAM, Maine – Sophomore
Alyssa Conley (Windham, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine women's tennis team has been named the Little East Conference Player of the Week. Conley is the first Husky to earn the Player of Week award in women's tennis since Sarah Hill in 2014.
Â
Conley went 2-1 and both first doubles and first singles last week for the Huskies. The first doubles pair of Conley and freshman
Payton Thibodeau (Gorham, Maine) defeated the top pair from Thomas College 7-4 on Thursday before dropping their first conference match to UMass Dartmouth 6-2 on Saturday afternoon. However, the pair rebounded with a 6-2 win against Husson University on Sunday to end the week on a high note.
Â
In singles play, Conley recorded a 6-1, 6-2 win against her opponent from Thomas and earned the lone point for the Huskies in Saturday's loss to UMass Dartmouth with a 7-5, 6-1 victory. Conley has a record of 3-1 so far this season.
Â
Conley and the Huskies will return to action on Thursday afternoon with a 3:00 pm road match at the University of New England.
