GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's tennis team has earned its first Little East Conference Championship Tournament bid since 2018 as the sixth seed after finishing the regular season with a record of 3-5 in conference play. The Huskies will face third seed UMass Boston on Tuesday, October 21 at the Weymouth Club in Weymouth, Mass. at 12:30 pm.

Championship History
Southern Maine has appeared in the LEC Tournament six times since the tournament moved to its current format in 2008. The Huskies won conference titles in 2000 and 2002 during the conference's flighted tournament era.

About the 2025 Huskies
Southern Maine had its best season since 2008 with a record of 4-8 and a 3-5 record in conference action. The Huskies lineup features a good mix of breakout newcomers along with some reliable veterans.
Sophomore transfer
Alyssa Conley (Windham, Maine) has a singles record of 9-3 overall and a 7-1 mark in conference action. Conley went 4-2 at No. 1 singles before moving to the No. 2 spot after senior
Abby Emerson (Gorham, Maine) returned to the lineup. Emerson, a 2023 Second Team All-LEC performer, has matched Conley's record at the first singles slot. Conley has continued to excel and enters the postseason with a 5-1 record at the No. 2 spot.
Freshman
Payton Thibodeau (Gorham, Maine) and fifth-year senior
Hanni Johnson (Livermore, Maine/Spruce Mountain) have also been key additions for the Huskies this season. Thibodeau has gone 6-2 in singles match with a 5-1 record at No. 2 singles. She holds a 2-2 record in conference play. Johnson has earned four singles wins for the Huskies and has been a steady performer in doubles matches as well.
Conley and Emerson are the top doubles pairing for the Huskies with a 6-1 record in conference play. Thibodeau also played with Conley at the top spot this season and the pair went 3-1. Johnson and Thibodeau have been playing in the No. 2 slot and have a record of 3-2 overall and 2-2 in conference action.
Senior
Muriel Lattin (Litchfield, Maine/Winthrop) has been a key contributor for the Huskies. Lattin is having the best season of her career and is 6-6 in singles matches with a 4-4 record in conference action. Her time has been split evenly between the No. 4 and No. 5 singles slots.
About No. 3 UMass Boston
The Beacons and Huskies just faced off on Tuesday, October 14 with UMass Boston taking the match 6-1. Despite losing out on the doubles point, the Huskies' No. 1 duo of Emerson and Conley won a thrilling battle against UMass Boston's Zainab Patel and Sandra Watson 7-6 thanks to an 8-6 win in the tiebreak. Johnson and Thibodeau also gave the No. 2 pair for the Beacons a good challenge before falling 6-4. In singles play, Conley picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles.
Patel plays at the No. 1 singles position for the Beacons and is 7-0 in conference play while Watson is 4-3 in the No. 2 slot in conference action with one of those losses coming against Conley last week.
