GORHAM, Maine – Seniors
Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) and
Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop, Maine) and freshman
Maddie Niles (Benton, Maine/Lawrence) of the University of Southern Huskies field hockey team each earned weekly recognition from the Little East Conference.
Folsom was named the Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season, while Boudreau was named the Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in 2025. Niles, a rookie forward, is earning Rookie of the Week honors for the first time this season.
Playing and starting in a pair of games for the Huskies, Niles assisted on the Southern Maine's game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Wheaton College (Mass.) on the road this Saturday. Niles work on the offensive side of the field, helped the Huskies to their first win over the Lyons since the 2013 season. She has two assists so far this season.
A key figure in the Huskies' defense, Boudreau had three defensive saves over the Huskies' two games during the week. Boudreau started the week with a pair of defensive saves against nationally-ranked Bowdoin College, and then had another in Southern Maine's 2-1 win at Wheaton. Boudreau played a full 60 minutes in both contests. Playing and starting in five games this season, Boudreau has a team-leading six defensive saves thus far in 2025, and has scored one goal.
Turning in another strong week in net for the Huskies, Folsom had a pair of double-digit saves during the week, making 11 stops against nationally-ranked Bowdoin College before delivering a 10-save performance on the road at Wheaton College. Folsom has had three games this season with double-digit saves, including a career-high tying 13 in a 2-0 win over Mount Holyoke. Through six games, Folsom has a .839 save percentage, making 47 saves.
Southern Maine (3-3) starts a three-game home stand hosting Husson on Saturday, September 20 (1:00 pm), Endicott College on Wednesday, September 24 (7:00 pm) and Saint Joseph's College (Maine) on Monday, September 29 (7:00 pm). The Huskies then travel to Worcester State on Thursday, October 2 (7:00 pm) before hosting Eastern Connecticut State on Saturday, October 4 (12:00 pm) in Little East Conference action
