GORHAM, Maine – Maddie Perkins scored twice to lead the Husson University Eagles to a 4-1 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference field hockey game Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field.
Eagle goalkeeper Ella Duchette had a strong performance to propel Husson, making 10 saves, including a penalty stop early in the game.

Today's game is the ninth meeting between the University of Southern Maine and the Husson University Eagles. Husson leads the series 6-3. The previous two contests were decided in overtime. Southern Maine claimed the 2023 match-up 3-2, and Husson took the 2024 game by the identical score. Both games were played at the winning-team's home field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Perkins scored less than a minute into the game to give the Eagles an early advantage. She made it 2-0 before time expired in the first quarter, notching her fourth goal of the season in the 11th minute.
- The Huskies had an opportunity to trim the lead to 2-1 in the 18th minute as senior Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) stepped to the spot to take a penalty shot, but her low drive shot to the left of the cage was parried away by Duchette with a leg.
- Averi Baker scored early in the second quarter, scoring her first goal of the season to put Husson ahead 3-0 before Southern Maine took one back to close out the half. Junior Bri Townsend (Newport, Maine/Nokomis) knocked in her second goal of 2025 after a feed from junior HJ Tuplin (Lisbon, Maine) with less than eight seconds until the halftime buzzer.
- Husson freshman Isabel Folsom (Winthrop, Maine) tallied the final goal of the game in the 48th minute completing the assist from Baker for her first goal of the season.

Southern Maine hosts nationally-ranked No. 24 Endicott College on Wednesday, September 24 (7:00 pm) and Saint Joseph's College (Maine) on Monday, September 29 (7:00 pm). The Huskies then travel to Worcester State on Thursday, October 2 (7:00 pm) before hosting Eastern Connecticut State on Saturday, October 4 (12:00 pm) in Little East Conference action.
