HJ Tuplin (Lisbon, Maine) and sophomore
Dylan Barr (Phippsburg, Maine/Morse) each scored a goal to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 2-1 win over the Wheaton College (Mass.) Lyons 2-1 in a non-conference field hockey game Saturday afternoon at Nordin Field.

Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop, Maine) turned in another strong performance making 10 saves to keep the Huskies in front. Senior
Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) made her sixth defensive save of the season to aid Folsom and the Huskies.

Today's game marked the ninth game in the series history between Southern Maine and Wheaton. Southern Maine leads the overall series 6-3, but is earning its first win over the Lyons since the 2013 season aftern suffering losses (2-1) and (1-0) in 2023 and 2024 respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams were scoreless after the first quarter with each side registering a pair of shots, with Folsom making the first save of the game on the only shot on goal.
- The Huskies broke through for the 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute as Tuplin scored her second goal of the 2025 season with an unassisted strike. Minutes later, Barr scored her first goal of 2025 completing an assist from freshman Maddie Niles (Benton, Maine/Lawrence) in the 25th minute.
- Both teams were relatively even in the second quarter with USM holding a slim 8-7 lead in shots, but Folsom stood tall making six second quarter saves to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead into the half.
- Wheaton turned up the pressure in the third and broke up the shutout in the 43rd minute as Riley Levrault completed the assist from Hannah Fortin, but it was as close as the Lyons would get. Folsom and the Huskies' defense held.
