GORHAM, Maine – Seniors Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) and Olivia Staggs (Sabattus, Maine/Oak Hill), and junior Dylan Barr (Phippsburg, Maine/Morse) have been named captains of the 2025 University of Southern Maine Huskies' field hockey team. Two seasons removed from their 2023 LEC Championship, the program's second overall  first in 20 season (2003, 2023), the Huskies advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 conference championship.

"I anticipate strong leadership from Jaigan, Dylan and Olivia," said veteran head coach Bonny Brown-Denico.  "Each are veteran players with plenty of game experience, and have demonstrated their character, leadership and dedication to the team over their careers. I look forward to seeing how they can help bring our team along in 2025."

A junior forward for Southern Maine, Barr has played in 41 career games with 17 starts.  Moving into a more permanent starting role as a sophomore in 2024, Barr played in 19 games with 14 starts, scoring two goals and adding three assists for seven points.  Barr scored the Huskies game-winning goal in a 4-1 victory over Framingham State.  She earned her third assist of the season helping USM defeat Eastern Connecticut 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the LEC tourney. Barr is an Exercise Science major.

Staggs enters her final season with 54 career games to her credit, and is a member of the Huskies' defense.  Playing in 21 games in 2024 with 12 starts, Staggs logged nearly 800 minutes of playing time, and started the last 10 games of the season consecutively.  A William B. Wise Scholar Athlete, and a two-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad member, Staggs is earning her degree in Exercise Science.

Returning to the Huskies after two years post-injury, Boudreau will help anchor the Huskies defense.  A 2021 All-LEC first team selection and a 2022 LEC 12th Player of the Year award winner, Boudreau served as a student-assist for the Huskies in 2023, and 2024.  Also a member of the LEC Championship women's track & field squad, Boudreau is an all-conference and all-region thrower.  A William B.
