GORHAM, Maine – Makena Valentine scored in the 24
th minute to lead the University of New England Noreasters to a 1-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference match up Friday evening at Hannaford Field.

Facing each other for the second time since the 2016 season, today's game marked the 14
th meeting between the Nor'easters and the Huskies. UNE leads the overall series 11-3, and Southern Maine last defeated the Nor'easter 2-1 during the 2015 season. The Nor'easters defeated the Huskies 4-0 in 2024.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Despite out-shooting Southern Maine 6-0 in the first quarter, the Nor'easters were left without a goal as Husky senior goalkeeper Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop, Maine) made all six saves.
- Makena Valentine put UNE ahead in the 24th minute scoring her team's first goal of the season.
- Registering four shots (one on goal) in the final three quarters, the Huskies were unable to find the equalizer. Junior HJ Tuplin (Lisbon, Maine) had a diving effort in the 49th minute for the potential tying goal, but the ball trickled past the far post.
