GORHAM, Maine - Senior
Eleanor Folsom (Winthrop, Maine) matched her career-high with a season-high 13 saves to pace the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 2-0 win over the Mount Holyoke College Lyons in a non-conference field hockey game Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field.
Earning the shutout, Folsom faced 14 shots on goal, and was helped by a clutch defensive save from senior
Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) in the 41
st minute. Boudreau and junior
Bri Townsend (Newport, Maine/Nokomis) each scored for the Huskies in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Southern Maine controlled play early earning two penalty corners and two shot on goals in the first six minutes of action, before Townsend opened her scoring ledger for Southern Maine with a low driven shot in the sixth minute for a 1-0 USM lead.
- Action swung to the Lyons in the second quarter, as Mount Holyoke pressured for an equalizer with eight shots and seven penalty corners in the second frame. Testing Folsom early in the second, the Lyons forced Folsom to make a quartet of saves early before earning six consecutive penalty corners in the final 2:02 of the half. MHC's Diane Lee turned two on frame against Folsom in the run of penalty corners, but Folsom stood tall each time.
- Both teams had early shots on goal in the third, before Boudreau scored her first goal of 2025, converting a penalty stroke in the 40th minute. Boudreau lined her shot to the left corer for the 2-0 Southern Maine advantage.
- In the fourth, neither team had many clear chances but the Lyons continued to earn penalty corners and had three in the final three minutes, including back-to-back tries in the final seconds of the game.
