Liam Conneely, Asa Farley and Gabe Wagner Named 2025 Southern Maine Men's Soccer Captains
GORHAM, Maine – Senior Asa Farley (Gorham, Maine), junior Liam Conneely (Weymouth, Mass.) and sophomore Gabe Wagner (Freeport, Maine) have been named captains for the 2025 University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's soccer season.

"Asa, Liam and Gabe will provide our team with excellent leadership," noted head coach Jim Hopkins '00.  "Each of these young men display the character, discipline and work ethic needed for our program to continue to move forward."

In his second season as a Husky, Wagner is a vocal land active goalkeeper for the Huskies. Playing in 12 games in the 2024 season, displayed his excellent shot-stopping ability in his rookie campaign, making 39 saves, including a season and career-high 14 at Bowdoin College.  Wagner earned his first career shutout with a trio of saves in a 0-0 draw against Little East opponent UMass Dartmouth on the road.  Wagner made five saves in a 1-1 conference draw with Eastern Connecticut, and had eight saves in a LEC contest against Plymouth State.  Wagner is a Psychology major.

Reprising his role as team co-captain, Farley is a four-year member of the Huskies' backline, playing in 41 games with 40 starts. In 2024, Farley played and started in 18 games, and logged 1531 minutes.  Recording the first points of his career, Farley had a goal and an assist in 2024, including the game-tying goal against Eastern Connecticut in Little East Conference play.  Farley also assisted on the Huskies' game-tying goal in a 1-1 draw against UMaine Farmington.  A two-time College Sports Communicator Academic All-District selection, Farley is completing his degree in Athletic Training.

Earning 2024 All-Little East Conference honors, Conneely returns after an outstanding sophomore season. One of the Huskies' starting outside backs, Conneely played in 16 games and started in 15.  A hard-nosed defender with a knack for a well-time tackle and a strong arial presence, Conneely helped anchor Southern Maine's back line.  In addition to his contributions in the back, Conneely had three goals in 2024, scoring twice in the Huskies 3-1 win over the University of New England.  Conneely registered the game's game-tying and go-ahead goal against the Nor'easters. Conneely scored his third goal of the season against Little East opponent Rhode Island College. Conneely is a Mechanical Engineering major.
