GORHAM, Maine – Senior
Vincent Anderson (Anchorage, Alaska/A.J. Dimond) and juniors
Asa Farley (Gorham, Maine) and
Kurtis Voter (Sanford, Maine) of University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's soccer team have each earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.
Members of the Huskies' formidable defense, all three Husky student-athletes are earning the honor after distinguishing themselves athletically and academically at the University of Southern Maine. To be eligible for the accolade, student-athletes must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), must have participated in at least 90 percent of the team's games, must be at least a sophomore academically. Graduate students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher as both an undergrad and graduate student-athlete. Student-athletes are nominated for the honor by their institution's Athletic Communications professionals.
One of the 2024 team captains, Anderson is now a two-time Academic All-District selection. A William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete completing his degree in Sports Management, Anderson played and started in all 18 of the Huskies' games during the 2024 season. Anderson logged full 90 shifts in all but one game this season, amassing 1562 minutes played as the anchor the Huskies' back line. In addition to formidable defense, Anderson record his first career point this season with an assist in the Huskies' season-opening draw (1-1) at Husson University.
Moving into a starting role as a sophomore, Farley continued to be a regular in the Huskies' backline in 2024, making up the other half of the Southern Maine center back role with Anderson. Playing and starting in 18 games for the Huskies, Farley logged 1531 minutes. Along with his defensive work, Farley recorded a goal and an assist for the Huskies in 2024, netting the game-tying goal in USM's 1-1 draw against Little East foe Eastern Connecticut. Farley also earned an assist on the game-tying assist in a 1-1 draw against UMaine Farmington. Now a two-time Academic All-District award winner, Farley is an Athletic Training major and a William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete recipient.
Playing a significant role in the Huskies' defense as an outside back, Voter is earning Academic All-District honor for the first time in his career. Pursuing his degree in Mechanical Engineering, Voter is also a William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete. Moving into a more consistent role, Voter played in 15 games, earning 12 starts. During the 2024 season, Voter played three full 90 shifts, helping the Huskies to six shutouts during the season.
Designated Academic All-District student-athlete honorees are eligible for selection to the Academic All-America program. College Sports Communicators began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored more than 38,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors. Currently, CSC sponsors Academic All-America® programs for men's soccer, women's soccer, football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's swimming & diving, women's swimming & diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, baseball, softball and men's and women's track and field/cross country. Many other sports are eligible through the At-Large program, including USM sponsored sports field hockey, golf, ice hockey, and wrestling).
