Four Huskies Earn Post-Season Honors from Little East Conference

GORHAM, Maine  –  Four members of the University of Southern Maine Huskies softball team have earned post-season honors from the Little East Conference. Senior Meaghen Dufresne (Mattapoisett, Mass./Old Rochester Regional), junior Kendall Migliorini (Salem, NH) and freshman Mia Coots (Hartland, Maine/Nokomis) were each selected to the 2025 All-Little East Conference first team, while Coots and fellow freshman Gwen Christie (Barnstead, NH/Prospect Mountain) were both selected to the 2025 All-Rookie Team.

A four-year player for the Huskies, Dufresne is earning post-season honors for the first time in her career after setting career-highs in batting average, hits, doubles, home runs and RBI while playing and starting each of Southern Maine's 40 games as catcher.  Dufresne hit .273 (33-for-121) for the Huskies and scored 14 runs. Recording multiple hits in 14 games, Dufresne was 3-for-3 with four RBI and a run scored in the second game of a double-header sweep over Keene State during the regular season.  Defensively catching every game, Dufresne fielded .981 with 168 putouts and 36 assists while throwing out 11 would-be runners on the bases. She finishes her Husky career playing in 118 games with 101 starts with 73 career hits, including 19 doubles, three triples, three home runs and 41 RBI.

Playing first base for the Huskies, Migliorini hit a team-best .297 (33-for-111) with a team-high 23 RBI. Collecting 14 doubles and three home runs during the season, she had a .505 slugging percentage, and scored 21 runs.  Playing in all 40 games, Migliorini started 38 and was a strong defensive player fielding .987 with 287 putouts and eight assists and was involved in three double-plays. Setting career-highs in batting average, hits, doubles and home runs as well as RBI, Migliorini had nine games with at least two hits, led by a 3-for-4 effort with four RBI against WestConn to close out the regular season.

After an outstanding first season, Coots earned a spot on the LEC first team as one of the Huskies primary pitchers. Appearing in 24 games, Coots fired a team-high 129.1 innings with a 2.54 ERA with a record of 12-9 with a save.  Tallying 105 strikeouts in her first season, Coots had a season-best 10 strikeouts in a 5-0 shutout victory over VTSU-Castleton. Coots earned four of her 12 victories via the shutout, ranking her 70th in all of NCAA Division III softball, while her 105 strikeouts are in the 100.

Named to the All-Rookie team along with Coots, Christie moved into a regular everyday starting position for the Huskies at second base. Christie played and started in 37 games, and had a .943 fielding percentage with 64 putouts and 52 assists while helping turn three double plays.  Growing in confidence at the plate, Christie hit .227 as a rookie with 20 hits, including three doubles and a pair of home runs while driving in 11 RBI. She also scored eight runs.

Southern Maine concluded the 2025 season with an overall record of 20-20, going 18-12 after its 10-game Florida trip, and 10-6 in the Little East Conference.  The Huskies finished the 2025 Little East Conference regular season in second place after being selected to finish fourth in the conference preseason poll.
