BOSTON, Mass. – Junior
Alexis Karantza (Westbrook, Maine) ran the fastest 500-meter time in University of Southern women's indoor track & field history on Friday at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. Karantza placed sixth in the prelims with a time of 1:17.42 and will race again tomorrow in the finals. Her time beats the record of 1:19.04 set by Anna Whitaker on February 22, 2013.

Track Event Highlights:
- Sophomore Gwen Catalano (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) scored a point for the Huskies by finishing eighth in the 5000 meters. Her time of 18:44.45 is the sixth-fastest in program history and puts her fifth on the program leaderboard.

Field Event Highlights:
- Junior Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) cleared a career-best 3.46m in the pole vault to place 11th. She now ranks sixth in program history.
- Freshman Khalysa Hammith (Windham, Maine) jumped 4.92m to finish 21st in the long jump.
