GORHAM, Maine – University of Southern Maine senior defenseman
Jackson Legro (Brentwood, N.H.) will begin his professional career with the Monroe Moccasins of the Federal Prospects Hockey League after signing with the team earlier this week. Legro is expected to make his debut for the Moccasins in their weekend series against the Danville Dashers. The Moccasins are based out of Monroe, La.
Legro played in 19 games for the Huskies in 2024-25 after spending three years at Lebanon Valley College. He blocked 15 shots and recorded a goal. Between USM and Lebanon Valley, Legro logged two goals and nine assists in his 87-game collegiate career. Legro is finishing his degree in Leadership and Organizational Studies and earned numerous academic honors while at LVC, including three United Collegiate Hockey Conference All-Academic nods and a 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District selection.
The FPHL is a Single-A Minor Professional hockey league operating in its 15th season during 2024-25. The league consists of 14 teams across nine states. Legro will be the third former Huskies to play in the league during the 2024-25 season. Dylan Hullaby, who played for Southern Maine in 2022-23 before leaving to play overseas in England, began the season with the Moccasins and was later traded to the Danbury Hat Tricks.
Elliot Van Orsdel, who played for the Huskies in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, suited up for three games for the Port Huron Prowlers.
