GORHAM, Maine – Senior
Colby Frost (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) and junior
Jake Craig (Norridgewock, Maine/Skowhegan) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' wrestling team were named National Wrestling Coaches' Association Division III Scholar All-American honors. Both Craig and Frost are now three-time recipients of the prestigious NWCA academic award.
To be eligible for the academic honor, wrestling student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be either a regional place winner or win 66 percent of their competitions with a 15-match minimum. Craig and Frost are two of 464 wrestlers from more than 100 institutions to achieve the status of Scholar All-American.
Recently completing his stellar four-year career as a Husky wrester, Frost is a two-time All-American earning the honor in back-to-back seasons (2024, 2025) at 149 lbs. A four-time All-Region wrestler, and a three-time NCAA National Championship qualifier, Frost capped his career placing sixth at the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship. Now a two-time All-American and three-time NWCA Scholar All-American, Frost earned his 100
th career win during 2024-2025 season and completed the season with a remarkable 38-4 record. A three-time William B. Wise Scholar Athlete and a College Sports Communicator Academic All-District selection, Frost is completing his degree in Health Sciences.
Earning All-American honors for the second time in his career (2023, 2025), Craig is a three-time NCAA National Championship Qualifer and three-time All-Region wrestlers as a junior. Craig completed an outstanding 2024-2025 season with a record of 28-8, and joins Frost as one of just three Husky wrestlers in program history to earn the title of All-American more than once in their career. At consistent performer for the Huskies since his first season (2022-2023), Craig was named the 2023 New England Wrestling Association Rookie of the Year, and is a two-time All-NEWA performer. As a three-time NWCA Scholar All-American, Craig is working towards a degree in Cyber Security.
