PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island. – Junior
Jake Craig (Norridgewock, Maine) and senior
Colby Frost (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) came up with huge wins in the wrestle-back bracket to secure All-Americans in gutsy performances at the 2025 NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championship Tournament hosted at the Amica Mutual Pavillion in Providence, R.I.
With at least an eight-place finish secured and All-American status achieved for the second time in both of their careers, Craig and Frost remain alive and can place as high as third in the nation when action resumes tomorrow at 10 am.
As previous All-American award winners, Frost (2024, 2025) and Craig (2023, 2025) are two of just three Husky wrestlers to earn the distinction of NCAA All-American more than once in their career joining current Southern Maine head coach
Mike Morin '10, who earned the honor in 2009 and 2010 during his time as a Husky student-athlete. Including Morin, Frost and Craig, the Huskies boast eight all-time individual All-Americans. Husky standout Pete Del Gallo earned NCAA All-American honors in 2019 (third place) and was awarded NWCA All-American honors in 2020 after the tourney was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Colby Frost (149) – Recap
Ranked third in the nation entering into the tournament as a returning 2024 NCAA Division III All-American, Frost received the third seed in the 149 lb bracket. Opening his tourney with back-to-back wins, Frost battled to a 5-4 win over North Central (Illinois) sophomore Tyler Starr who earned his spot finishing third in the Lower Midwest Regional Championship. Frost scored an early takedown in the first period, and led 3-1; however, Starr earned three points with a near fall in the second before Frost righted the ship with a reversal to leap ahead 5-4 and then held for the win.
In his second match, Frost squared off against Concordia-Moorehead junior Aidan Ruddy. Ruddy finished second at the Upper Midwest Regional Championship to earn his spot in the national tourney. Frost again gutted out a win, scoring a pair of takedowns, a reversal and earning a point via riding time to earn the 8-6 win over Ruddy to advance to the quarterfinals of the 149 lb bracket.
In the quarterfinal, Frost dropped his match against Wartburg's Kyler Romero (ranked No. 8 nationally) by fall 1:50. Facing elimination in the wrestle-back with one loss against him, Frost earned a dominant 7-2 win by decision over Washington and Lee's Evan Lindner. Scoring a takedown early in the first, Frost led 3-1 headed into the second. After a scoreless second period, Lindner pulled to within 3-2 after another escape, but another takedown from Frost with eight seconds to go, and over two minutes of riding time resulted in a 3-1 win, and a spot on the podium for the Huskies' senior.
Jake Craig (125) – Recap
Competing in his third consecutive national championship, Craig, a 2023 NCAA Division III All-American, entered the tourney seeded sixth and ranked eighth nationally at 125 lbs. After a first-round bye, Craig opened his championship run with a 9-6 win by decision against Coe's Brayden Parke. Parke, the 125 lb champion of the Lower Midwest Regional, is making his first appearance in the tourney. Craig scored early in the first and led 7-1 with a takedown and a near fall. In the second, Craig tacked on two more points to lead 9-2, and in the third, Parke made a late push scoring four points in the frame, including a late takedown, for the 9-6 final and a spot in the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals, Craig dropped a 9-0 decision to Ferrum's Zach Beckner, and settled in to keep himself alive in the consolation bracket. Facing elimination and with All-American honors on the line, Craig turned in a strong performance to earn a 4-1 win over Wisconsin-Whitewater's Jalen Dunson. Dunson, the third place finisher at the Upper Midwest Regional, and Craig battled through a scorless first period before Craig went up 4-0 after two, scoring an escape and a take down. Up 4-0 in the third, Craig let up an escape point to Dunson in the final frame, and then played strong defense to keep the result at 4-1.

Frost will face RIT's Mike Glynn. Glynn is a returning NCAA All-American (8
