Ethan Shain (Sanford, Maine) once again broke his own University of Southern Maine record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.77 seconds at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in Rochester, N.Y. Shain's time ranked sixth in the primary round and earned him a spot in tomorrow's finals plus First Team All-America designation. Fifth-year senior
Ben Drummey (Biddeford, Maine) also earned All-American honors by placing 16th in the pole vault to secure Second Team All-America status.
First Team All-America status is awarded to finishers 1-8 (individual events and relays) in each event at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships Second Team All-America status is awarded to finishers 9-16 (individual events) and 9-10 (relays) in each event at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. Preliminary round placings are used for classification for events in which fewer than 16 participate in the final round. Athletes and relays must have a valid mark in at least one round to earn All-America status.
Shain placed second in his heat behind University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh's Davian Willems. Willems' time ranked four overall. Shain is now a two-time All-American in the 60-meter dash having earned Second Team honors by placing 16th at last year's event with a time of 6.87 seconds.
Drummey passed on the opening height of 4.60m and cleared 4.75m on his third attempt. After missing at 4.90m he opted to pass and try at 5.00m but could not clear the bar. A three-time First Team All-American in the indoor pole vault, this is first Second Team honor. He ends his indoor career as a four time All-American and two-time National Champion in the pole vault. He is also a two-time All-American in the outdoor version of the event.
Freshman
Joey Richards (Winslow, Maine) competed in the 400 meters and placed 21st with a time of 49.71 seconds. Richards broke the program record in the event earlier this season with a time of 48.07 seconds. His awards this season include conference titles in the 200 meters, 400 meters and the 4x400 relay, Division III All- New England honors in the 400 meters and U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region status in the 400 meters.
Shain will compete in the finals tomorrow at 3:25 pm where he will be looking to break his own record one last time.
