GORHAM, Maine  –   Graduate student Liz Cote (Conway, N.H./Kennett) and freshman Dakota Shipley (Bath, Maine/Brunswick) sweep the Little East Conference Weekly awards for the period ending February 16.  Cote was named the Player of the Week, while Shipley is earning Rookie of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.
 
Cote and Shipley were instrumental in the Huskies' 74-68 upset win over No. 21/23 UMass Dartmouth in Southern Maine's lone game of the week.  The win ended a 14-game losing streak to the Corsairs, and ended UMD's bid for an undefeated season in the Little East Conference.
 
A 5-5 guard, Cote was 7-for-12 from the field, including a 4-for-8 mark from three-point range, for 20 points. Cote scored 15 of her 20 points, going three-for-three from beyond-the-arc, in the opening half kickstarting the Huskies' offense. Playing and starting in 22 games, Cote is the Huskies' second-leading scorer averaging 11 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.3 assist and 1.2 steals per game. She is shooting 42.2 percent from the field and a team-leading 43.2 percent (63-for-146) from three-point range.
 
Shipley is earning back-to-back rookie honors from the LEC after leading Southern Maine in scoring and rebounding over the Corsairs.  The Huskies 6-1 guard/forward earned her third double-double of the season with a career-best 22 points, and 10 rebounds.  Shipley scored 14 of her 22 points, including 12 four-quarter points, in the second half to lead USM to the upset win.  Finishing the game 5-for-10 from the field, including 3-for-5 from three, Shipley was 9-for-10 from the free throw line converting a pair of and-one plays late in the game. Shipley's 12 fourth-quarter points were critical as USM and the Corsairs entered the final frame tied at 50.  
 
Southern Maine (14-9, 10-4 Little East) is on the road for its final two regular-season contests, and will play Plymouth State on Wednesday, February 19 (5:00 pm), and VTSU-Castleton on Saturday, February 22 (12:00 pm). The Huskies will then prep for the 2025 Little East Conference Championship Tournament which begins on Tuesday, February 25 (tba).
