GORHAM, Maine - Senior
Jaycie Christopher (Skowhegan, Maine) had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies (RV) to a 73-42 win over the UMaine Farmington Beavers in a non-conference women's basketball game Wednesday night at Hill Gymnasium.
Christopher was 7-for-14 from the field and 5-for-8 from three for the game-high total. Sophomore
Lucy Wiles (Glenburn, Maine/Hampden Academy) added 16 points on 6-for-10 shooting, while sophomore
Dakota Shipley (Bath, Maine/Brunswick) filled the stat sheet with 12 pointsm six rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots on 5-for-8 shooting.
Jaydn Pingree led the Beavers with 13 points, three rebounds and two steals. Jessica Dow added 11 points.

Today's game marked the 60
th meeting between the UMaine Farmington Beavers and the University of Southern Maine Huskies. Southern Maine leads the overall series 48-12. The Huskies have won 18 consecutively over UMaine Farmington dating back to the 2000-2001 season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Southern Maine scored the first 12 points of the game and led the Beavers wire-to-wire in the win. The Huskies opened the game going 4-for-4 from the field to start hot and finished the first quarter up on the Beavers 21-8. Wiles had 10 of her 16 in the opening frame.
- The Huskies continued to roll offensively in the second and outscored UMF 8-2 in the opening three minutes to lead 29-10 on a layup from senior Avah Ingalls (Hampstead, NH/Pinkerton Academy). The Huskies led by 25, 38-13, with 1:18 left before the halftime break on a three from sophomore Morgan Cunningham (Augusta, Maine/Cony) before the Beavers scored the final four points of the quarter to trail 38-17.
- UMF cut into the Huskies lead in the third, and trailed by 17, 46-29, after a jumper from Pingree, but Christopher countered with a three and USM outscored UMF 6-2 to close the quarter and lead 52-31 headed into the fourth.
- Consecutive threes from Wiles, Christopher and Shipley started the Huskies in the fourth and a Shipley layup at 6:58 made it a 63-35 Husky. UMF never got closer than 26 the rest of the way, and the Huskies had their largest lead of the game (32 points) 73-41 with 3:08 to go on a traditional three-point play from freshman Franki Bello (Leominster, Mass.) en route to the 73-42 final.

- Southern Maine shot 43.5 percent (27-for-62) from the field, and was 43.8 percent (14-for-32) from three. UMaine Farmington shot 29.2 percent (15-for-51).
- The Huskies had a 44-31 lead in rebounding led by Christopher's 10 and Shipley's six.
