GORHAM, Maine    –  Freshman Dakota Shipley (Bath, Maine/Brunswick) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies women's basketball team earned both New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) and Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MBWCA) honors for the period ending Sunday, February 9.  Shipley's regional weekly accolades come on the heels of her recent announcement as the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week.
 
Leading the Huskies to a pair of Little East Conference wins with victories over UMass Boston (69-43) and Western Connecticut State University (81-45), Shipley averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocked shots per game while shooting a solid 48.3 percent from the field.  Against UMass Boston, Shipley had 18 points, five rebounds, one assist, one steal and one blocked shot on 6-for-14 shooting.  At home against WestConn, Shipley was 8-for-15 from the field for 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, a steal and a blocked shot. 
 
Playing in 21 games, Shipley has started the last 12 consecutively for the Huskies.  She is averaging 9.0 points, 5.0 rebounds.  Since moving into the starting lineup full-time, Shipley has averaged 11.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting 42.5 percent from the field and 32.7 percent from three-point range.  She has scored in double-figures in seven games this season with a career-high of 19 points reached twice in games against Keene State and UMass Boston. 
 
The Huskies (13-9, 9-4 LEC) host nationally-ranked UMass Dartmouth on Saturday (1 pm) in a Little East Conference game.  Southern Maine closes out its regular season on the road with contests at Plymouth State on Wednesday, February 19 (5:00 pm) and at VTSU-Castleton on Saturday, February 22 (12:00 pm).  The Huskies will then set for the 2025 Little East Conference Tournament which begins on Tuesday, February 25 (tba).
